New Resume Tips & Resources!

Ok, well, after reviewing the first drafts of the resumes, it appears that we still have some work to do :). Overall, some areas that needed improvement were:
a) Format and appearance of the resume
b) Job Objective
c) Highlighting Skills and/or Experience

Click here for a great resource to help you strenghten the weaker areas of your resume.

I would like you to review both the section on creating a resume for a current afterschool job, as well as a career position. You can do this by clicking on the "students/jobseekers" tab (on the left) and then navigating through both current afterschool/career position options. Please explore the sections on objectives, skills & experience, work history, as well as "resume action verbs" (found on the left).

When you rewrite your resume, you might consider using the heading "summary of qualifications" or "relevant skills and experience", in lieu of (or in addition to your employment information). Be sure to refer to the "bullet bank" (in the section on "identifying your skills" in the afterschool job resume portion) found in the internet resource above. Remember to also include volunteer work under job experience, particularly if you have no paid job experience.

I hope this helps. :) Back to the drawing board!
